Bulk submissions: how to package 10–100 cards
Bulk shipments fail for one reason: pressure. Too much force in one spot creates corner dings, dents, or surface scuffs. This system keeps cards protected, organized, and easy to intake.
The bulk packing goal
- Protect each card from surface contact.
- Create rigid stacks with no flex.
- Avoid tight compression that bends corners/edges.
- Prevent movement inside the box.
- Keep it intake-friendly with a simple count/label system.
Supplies (what works best)
- Penny sleeves (one per card).
- Semi-rigid card savers (preferred for bulk) or toploaders.
- Painter’s tape (low tack).
- Bubble wrap (or foam sheets) for stacking.
- Packing paper to fill voids (avoid loose peanuts).
- A snug, sturdy box (and a larger outer box if double boxing).
Step-by-step (the safe bulk system)
- Sleeve and holder per card. Sleeve each card, then insert into a semi-rigid/toploader. Seal the opening with painter’s tape.
- Create stacks of 5–10. Keep stacks small so pressure stays even. Don’t over-tighten.
- Wrap each stack. Wrap stacks in bubble wrap to create a soft outer layer. Tape the bubble wrap so it doesn’t unravel.
- Pack stacks tightly (but not compressed). Stacks should fit snugly side-by-side. Fill gaps with packing paper so they can’t shift.
- Finish with a top layer. Add a final cushioning layer before closing the box.
Labeling makes intake faster
Include a simple packing note: your name, email, total card count, and any “priority” items (if applicable). For large submissions, you can label stacks “1/6”, “2/6”, etc. This helps confirm nothing is missing.
Common bulk packing mistakes
Avoid
- One giant stack with tight rubber bands.
- Loose cards in team bags without rigidity.
- Empty space in the box (movement = impact).
- Tape directly on the holder where it can leave residue.
Do
- Multiple small stacks with bubble wrap.
- Snug fit + packing paper to stop shifting.
- Tracking (and signature for higher value).
- A packing note with count and contact info.
